Nobody Tells You How Lonely Being Your Own Boss Can Get
A client said something to me recently that stuck. "I have more flexibility than I've ever had, and I've never felt more alone in my work." I hear this a lot, especially from birth and parenting professionals. Doulas, coaches, therapists, antenatal teachers, people who give so much to the families they support and then go home to an empty inbox instead of a team.
Nobody warns you about this part of going self employed. The freedom is real. So is the quiet. The fix isn't always more clients or a busier calendar. Often it's much simpler. It's finding a handful of people who understand exactly what your week looks like, without you having to explain the basics first.
That's the whole reason I built Truly, the community I run for professionals in this world. Not because anyone needs another platform to scroll. Because good things happen when people doing hard, meaningful work find their people.
If you've been doing this alone for a while, you don't need to keep doing that. You just need one room where you don't have to explain yourself from scratch.
Inspired by: my doulas and coaching clients who keep telling me the same thing in different words, until I finally listened and created a community just for you.
Come find your people in the Truly community. Info here Launching September 2026
