Self-Care, Compassion Fatigue & Burnout Prevention (2 hours): 28th April 10.30am-12.30pm
Supporting VBAC & caesarean birth. (3 hours) 4th June 10.30am-1.30pm
Supporting Birth Trauma (3 hours) Thursday 16th April 10.15am-1.15pm
*All sessions will be recorded so you can playback if you cannot attend live. It is expected you will attend most of the sessions live to engage in the activities and group discussions. You will have questions to answer on the modules you do not attend live to ensure you have deep understanding of the topic before your certificate is issued.
All you need is a Zoom account and internet connection.

This will be my only Birth Doula Training in 2026 (running once a year) Once you complete the required modules and assignments you will be certified to get professional insurance.and can work as a doula straight away.

Day 1 — The Role of the Birth Doula
Scope of practice, ethics, boundaries, core values, and professional identity. Understanding the doula role within the maternity care system.
Guest Speaker: Lisa Joyce A working birth doula — a day in the life, with live Q&A.
Day 2 — Communication, Advocacy & Inclusive Support
Unbiased, non judgemental communication, active listening, and holding safe emotional space. Supporting informed decision-making without bias or judgement. Inclusive, respectful care for diverse families and client choices.
Day 3 — The Stages of Labour & Induction
A clear, step by step overview of labour and birth, what is happening physiologically, emotionally and practically — from early signs through to the first hour after birth. Includes induction of labour, what to expect, and how to support families emotionally and practically at each stage.
Day 4 — Labour Support, Comfort Measures & Pain Management Options
Hands on labour support techniques, comfort measures, and partner support. Understanding pharmacological pain relief options and how to support informed choice.
Guest Speaker: Aisling Finnegan, BirthBox. A working doula and antenatal educator. Practical tools, positions, comfort measures, and what to pack in your doula bag.
Day 5 — The Doula Journey: From First Contact to final Postpartum Visit
Working with clients step by step — enquiries, interviews, antenatal visits, labour support, immediate postpartum care, and the postpartum visit.
Day 6 — Professional Practice & Business Foundations
Ethical practice, documentation, and working confidently within scope. Strong foundations for building a sustainable, heart-led doula business that actually works.
Guest Speaker: Representative from the Doula Association of Ireland (DAI) on peer support and professional membership.
Included 3 mandatory CPD Modules (Open to external participants)

Learn how to care deeply without depleting yourself, recognise early warning signs, and build long-term resilience in birth work.
Supporting VBAC & Caesarean Birth (3 hours)
Support for families planning a VBAC or experiencing a caesarean birth.
Includes emotional preparation, evidence based information, processing previous experiences, creating birth preferences and respectful, trauma aware care.
Supporting Birth Trauma (3 hours)
Trauma-aware, respectful support — without fixing, pushing, or re-traumatising.
Understanding your role, scope, and referral pathways.
Guest Speaker: Gemma Doyle 3 Step Rewind Technique
Includes guest speakers, real life scenarios, and interactive sessions for deep, experiential learning.

Supporting the Expressing Mother. (4 hours) 17th June 2026
Including NICU, sick and preterm babies, and the practical and emotional realities of expressing milk.

Babywearing for Doulas. (2 hours) Date TBC (April/June)
Learn safe, supportive babywearing to enhance bonding, regulation, and hands-free care in the postpartum period

I’m Jen Crawford, and I’ve spent the last 15 years devoted to supporting families and growing the doula profession in Ireland and globally.
