I Caught Myself Comparing My Business to Someone Else's Highlight Reel. Here's the Question That Snapped Me Out of It.

I was scrolling one evening, the way you do when you're tired and telling yourself it's just five minutes, and I landed on another coach's page. Polished launch. Big numbers. Confident captions.

And the familiar feeling showed up. That quiet, sinking, am I doing enough feeling. ‍

Here's what I had to remind myself, and what I now remind clients constantly. You're comparing your full story to someone else's highlight reel. You're seeing their best slide, not their inbox, their cancelled bookings, their quiet months, their own version of scrolling and feeling small.

The question that actually helped wasn't "how do I measure up." It was "what do I actually want, specifically, for me." Not a vague bigger or better. Specific. More clients in a niche I genuinely love. More time with my family. A calendar that doesn't make me wince when I open it. ‍

Once you get specific, comparison loses most of its power, because someone else's win stops being relevant to a goal that was never yours in the first place.

So next time the scroll starts that familiar spiral, try this. Close the app. Write down one specific thing you actually want this month. Just one. Let that be the only scoreboard you're checking.

Inspired by: a fellow business owner who said almost exactly this to me, and I haven't forgotten it since.
