Preparing to Support Families Expecting Multiples

A 3 Hour Professional Workshop for Doulas (Birth & Postpartum), IBCLCs, Midwives, Nurses, and any professional working with multiples.

Live Zoom session Date 22nd April 10.30am-1.30pm

This workshop is designed to support doulas and other professionals in developing specialist knowledge and practical skills when working with families expecting twins or higher-order multiples. Beginning with pregnancy and birth considerations, the session then moves into the realities of the newborn period and early family life.

Expecting multiples brings unique medical, emotional, and logistical complexities. This workshop equips doulas with the information, language, and confidence to provide evidence-based, compassionate support from pregnancy through the early postpartum period.

Learning this content in advance allows doulas to anticipate challenges, normalise experiences for parents, and offer calm, informed guidance—particularly in high-pressure or unexpected situations.

I have supported many families with twins and triplets, and even one family with quads! I will share my insight as a Birth & Postpartum doula, antental educator and also my years working with Irish Premature Babies.

We also have two fabulous guest speakers:

Fran Smith, a mother who had an unmediated vaginal twin birth and breastfed both babies into toddlerhood. Fran will share her experience in the hospital system, having birth and postpartum doula support and also answer your questions.

Sue Kelly, a mother who had triplets (two girls and a boy) and breastfed all 3 babies (requiring long term expressing for top ups too!) into toddlerhood. Sue will share her experience as a mother of premature triplets in a same sex marriage. The emotional journey, the hospital system, having postpartum doula support and also answer your questions.
